How did you get into marketing/comms?

It was by accident actually, I happened to attend a careers seminar that spoke about Comms/PR and it sounded like something I would love, so I gave it a try and here I am.

What is something that you do every day without fail?

I pray/meditate, it keeps me grounded

What is the best piece of advice that you’ve received? Who gave it to you?

You can only do your best, and that is always good enough. – My mum.

What is a tool/hack that you would recommend to anyone starting out in PR/Comms/Marketing?

Take each campaign at a time, it’s all a learning process, so enjoy the small wins as well as the big ones.

What’s your greatest achievement to date?

That would be leading on a campaign with the National Portrait Gallery, which saw everyday British families from diverse backgrounds have their family stories and images displayed at the gallery.

Is there a particular comms campaign that you’ve seen in your career that you didn’t work on but wish you had?

I wish I had worked on the “Future Movement: Black Well-being” by Jordan campaign. This is because it’s a brand that I have loved since childhood and they address topics like the importance of mental health in the Black Community, which is a topic I feel strongly about and advocate for myself.

What’s the key skill you think a successful PR/comms/marketing pro requires?

The ability to be prudent and think ahead. If you do this campaign now, how may you or the business be viewed in the future? Does it contribute to the overarching strategy?

In three words, describe your approach to your role/work?

Creative, Optimistic, Involved

What’s a question every PR/marketing pro should ask themselves?

Would I be excited by this campaign?
